This week sees the opening of the Monaco Yacht Show, the largest, most glamorous and talked about event on the yachting calendar.
More than 120 of the largest superyachts in the world will be showcased at the 25th edition of the Monaco Yacht Show, with more than 40 being showcased for the first time.
Organisers are expecting more than 33,000 visitors to attend the show, which will take place in Port Hercules from September 23rd to 26th.
For many brokers, shipyards and yachting service provides the Monaco Yacht Show is the place to get business done. But it's not all about hard work.
More than ever, organisers appreciate that the show is also a time for crew to get together after the end of a busy Mediterranean season — and before they head off to the Caribbean for months on end.
Here are our top picks for crew this year at the eagerly anticipated Monaco Yacht Show:
Dockwalk Welcome Party, Tuesday September 22
The action will kick off on the eve of the Monaco Yacht Show as the crew's bible, the Dockwalk, welcomes crew members to a party at the Star Deck, Stars N Bars, from 8pm. For those of you who are new to Monaco, Stars N Bars is an institution on the Port of Monaco serving fantastic food from all over the world, great beers and an awesome ambiance. On this night in particular there will be free snacks and drinks and a DJ ensuring the show gets off to great start for crew!
Throughout the show crew will be very welcome to drop by the Dockwalk Captains' Hideaway for some, we imagine, much needed r&r. The hideaway is also located at the Star Deck, Stars N Bars, so come and feast on full continental breakfast, a hot lunch or simply chill out after complimentary chair massage, available every day from 10-11.30.
MYS Opening Party, Wednesday September 23
The official opening party for all superyacht crew is being held this year at La Rascasse, on the port. The party's theme for 2015 is "Be part of the night, dress in white!' with music provided by DJ Dani L.
PYA Seminars and Workshops
In between the social events, the Monaco Yacht Show also encourages crew to further their careers in yachting by putting on relevant seminars such as the headline Sea Changes Seminar, on September 24 at 4pm. The series of seminars are being organised by the Professional Yachting Association and details of events can be found on the PYA's Facebook page here. The PYA will also be hosting a number of workshops for those interested.
