Last week marked the annual arrival of our highly anticipated Kite Fest Captains’ Escape, organised by both YPI and YPI CREW to give yacht captains the chance to unwind and socialise at the end of a busy summer season. Coming just at the right time — before the Monaco Yacht Show 2016, which will run from 28th September until 1st October — it was a great chance for Captains to network and take part in exciting activities together, before enjoying the refreshments of the evening.

This year's two-day long water sports-orientated event was a great success and enabled our guest Captains to get stuck into a day of high intensity kitesurfing and paddle boarding. Lessons were given for those looking to start out or improve their skills and, for those who didn’t want to get wet, simply relaxing on the shore sipping beachside cocktails was the order of the day. Subsequently, all Captains showed their competitive sides in our light-hearted horseshoe competition.

The kitesurfing took place at Presqu'île de Giens in the Var, which enjoys optimum wind conditions for the sport, and, since Hyères is of known for its beautiful pine forests, our guests then headed to woodland-nestled restaurant La Mandra for some refreshing cocktails. These were of course followed up by fine champagne, which was provided by our partner, Perrier-Jouët. Continuing the luxurious order of the evening, we celebrated with an exquisite dinner served at the restaurant, which was well deserved at the end of a highly active day!

The evening gave our Captains a chance to completely unwind in tranquil surroundings, with stunning views across the ocean and the idyllic île d'Or from the charming hotel Le Provençal — a delightful spot for a restorative getaway. Friday brought another day of serenity, as guests made the most of the hotel's private swimming pool with panoramic sea views, as well as breakfast served on the beautiful terrace.

We very much hope our guests enjoyed the event as much as we did, and are feeling refreshed and prepared for the Monaco yacht Show in a few days. To arrange a meeting with a YPI CREW recruiter at the Monaco Yacht Show, please contact us beforehand.
