Looking to further your yacht IT knowledge? Then look no further than the Bond Technology Management's Yacht IT Courses for crew.
Held in leading technical yacht management firm Bond TM's Amsterdam offices, the Level One and Level Two IT Yacht courses are the yachting industry's first IT courses and provide a structured training program for crew members looking to deepen their understanding of IT processes onboard a modern yacht.
Both courses are PYA accredited and combine theory with practical learning. Lessons are contextualised within real life scenarios, giving students the confidence to approach and resolve actual problems that could arise onboard.
The courses have been designed by Bond TM Founder and Director Will Faimatea, an ex-superyacht ETO himself, along with other members of the Bond IT team. Together, they boast over 81 years onboard experience with electronic systems and are perfectly placed to devise the most relevant and current IT curriculum for yacht crew.
The Level One IT Yacht Course is held over two days and assumes little prior knowledge, simply a basic understanding of computers that comes from using your PC, laptop or tablet.
The following subjects are covered:
Networks onboard a yacht
IP address fundamentals
Email
Administration Concepts
Over both days the students will have a chance to demonstrate their troubleshooting skills by solving various Client, Server and Network issues which are simulated during the lessons. The Level Two IT Yacht course runs for three days. Building on the lessons from Level One (and assuming this as knowledge), Level Two places an increased focus on practical training and explores in depth networks and administration.

The maximum class size is six, to guarantee a more personal learning experience. The IT courses are an excellent leap into a good basic knowledge and understanding of the content covered. As soon as I returned from level 1, I found what I had learned came into good use. Bjorn Gudmundsson, Chief Engineer MY TALITHA.
